Looking around the room, Maria smiled with satisfaction. She took a mouthful of her punch and closer her eyes as she swallowed it, savouring the alcohol as it went down. The music was blaring, everyone was dancing and her party was a success. She spotted Adam across the room and danced towards him, depositing her punch glass on the table beside her. Suddenly there was a bang on the door and it began to swing open. Maria quickly shouted, stopping the potential intruder in their tracks and, pushing Adam off her, made her way over to the door to shut it.
